With the Topman t-shirt scandal, feminism has finally jumped the shark. The campaign by bloggers, tweeters and anti-domestic violence activists to stop Topman selling allegedly sexist t-shirts confirms that, sadly, feminism has become the dumping ground for society's killjoys and miserabilists. Where once feminists were concerned with liberating women, now they're obsessed with controlling and censoring men, especially young, possibly cocky men, the kind who shop in Topman, who could apparently transmogrify into women-haters simply by donning a dodgy t-shirt. Feminists have gone from burning their bras in the name of equality to getting their knickers in a twist over young lads' fashion. How tragic.
Remember, I am not arguing here for or against the principle of net neutrality itself, but rather warning about the FCC's imposition of false authority over the internet in the first place. The idea of net neutrality has merits, but granting the FCC the power to control the internet is a disastrously bad idea that will only end in censorship and "information tyranny" -- especially now that governments around the world are witnessing the "dangers" of information freedom via the Wikileaks fiasco.
