Showstoppers launched last night their first West End improvised musical. The company of seven incredibly gifted artists will create every night a new musical in accordance with their audience’s demands and suggestions.  The artists on stage not only understand the genre, their technical ability and musical talent is beyond virtuosic. They bounce between styles, compose the tunes, put together the lyrics and choreography on the spot in front of your eyes. The audience was simply left mesmerised and gave a standing ovation. 

I joined the company for a few shows back in 2007 when the group was led by the great Ken Campbell .  The show was sophisticated, it was witty and deep. Yet their West End run can be realised as a radical artistic transformation. To a certain extent it may suggest the end of the West End and showbiz as we know it. It offers a crude, cynical, retrospective view of the notion of the musical, presented by a collective of wicked youngsters who know every trick in the book. 

I hope that Showstoppers stays in the West End for a long time, but don’t risk it. Book your ticket today, you can’t afford to miss it.
