Vladimir Putin arguably may have logical goals, but the pointless death and destruction he has unleashed clearly meet the criteria for “madman.” And it is surely clear to all that we are simply not doing enough about that. 

Niceties are not going to make a difference. Finding ways to help him save face, avoiding isolating and antagonizing him further by failing to take him on — head-on — seem pointless. 

Update(1700ET): Into the late night hours local time, there were widespread reports of a series of large explosions outside Kiev’s city limits. This as there’s said to be a convoy of infantry, tanks, and artillery that stretches “forty miles” that’s still approaching Kiev – though it’s believed the Russian assault on the Ukrainian capital has been severely hampered by logistical, supply, and fuel issues.

As it turns out, the Pfizer vaccine is almost entirely ineffective in children ages 5-11, according to the latest batch of trial data released by the vaccine giant.

He warned Sunday that NATO countries are pushing Russia into a “third world war”.

Leading up to Russia’s invasion, they gave WhoWhatWhy readers a glimpse into what life was like. On Saturday, around 1 p.m. local time, both were shot while reporting. It was not immediately clear who had targeted them, or why.

When Russian forces captured the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the early stages of their invasion of Ukraine this week, the internet was rife with speculation about impending doom. Actual nuclear experts, however, are much more concerned with the damage this misinformation can do than the dangers posed by the shuttered nuclear power plant. 

Vladimir Putin’s murderous blitzkrieg against Ukraine is basically the act of a schoolyard bully who breaks the rules, smashes your nose, and then asks, “What are you going to do about it?” The answer, at least for the moment, apart from leveling financially painful sanctions, is not much. The problem with this bully is that he has access to intercontinental nuclear missiles and a lot more is at stake than just Ukraine. 

In a hopeful sign of de-escalation, Ukrainian officials said they will meet Russian counterparts at the Belarus border, shortly after Vladimir Putin said he is putting Russia’s nuclear forces on higher alert.

In a Facebook post, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that Ukraine has agreed to talks with Russia on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.

President Vladimir Putin has ordered his army to put Russia’s nuclear deterrence on “special” alert on Sunday following “aggressive statements” by NATO leaders.

“Western countries are not only taking unfriendly actions against our country in the economic area. I’m speaking about the illegitimate sanctions that everyone is well aware of. However, the top officials of the leading NATO countries also make aggressive statements against our country as well,” Putin stated on Russian media.
