A new report on airborne pollution found that plastic waste is literally falling from the sky.

Ground zero for the study — titled “It is raining plastic” — is the state of Colorado. A group of scientists from the US Department of the Interior and US Geological Survey discovered so-called “microplastics” in 90 percent of the samples taken in Denver-Boulder ”urban corridor.”

In the foreseeable future, the weight of plastic trash in the ocean will be greater than the weight of all fish.

Already it’s been estimated by researchers that virtually all shellfish, and one-quarter of all fish, contain traces of plastic.
