As the novel coronavirus tears through South Korea’s hot zones, accelerated by the cult members who resisted getting tested after the first few cases emerged, scenes at some of the advanced capitalist economy’s hospitals are beginning to resemble the crowded hallways and demoralizing refusals that were hallmarks of the “bad old days” of mid-January through mid-February, when the novel coronavirus outbreak was at its most severe in Wuhan.

The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Defense (DOD) are preparing for a possible coronavirus pandemic response.

For the past six weeks, defense leaders have been meeting to plan for any possible scenario with the virus that first surfaced in China.

The small country of Luxembourg launched an interesting social experiment this week: If you make public transportation free in a country that has the European Union’s (EU) highest number of cars per capita, will people ditch their automobiles and switch to trains, buses, and streetcars? 

It seems that the coronavirus has gotten Americans to collectively hold their breath. How bad will the outbreak get in the US? Will there be a new case in their state or their city? Can the federal and state governments contain this threat? These are all reasonable questions. 

However, what many Americans may not realize is that the world is in this together, and if the virus is not contained everywhere, then nobody anywhere is safe.

Sarah Kliff of the New York Times reported Saturday that Pennsylvania native Frank Wucinski “found a pile of medical bills” totaling $3,918 waiting for him and his three-year-old daughter after they were released from government-mandated quarantine at Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, California.

Dr. Matt McCarthy, an infectious disease physician at an NYC Emergency Room, and author of the best-selling book “Superbugs”, unleashed a storm of man-on-the-ground doom-speak about the Covid-19 virus spread across the US this morning on CNBC.

“Before I came here this morning, I was in the emergency room seeing patients,” he said on CNBC’s Squawk Box.

“I still do not have a rapid diagnostic test available to me.”

Last night the US got its first dose of really bad coronavirus news, when Washington State announced it was the site of the country’s first coronavirus death on Saturday, while additionally reporting that two confirmed cases of COVID-19 were confirmed at a long-term care facility in Kirkland, Washington, prompting the state to declare a state of emergency, even as President Trump issued new foreign travel warnings and restrictions on Saturday afternoon in an effort to stop the spread of the virus, while also urging calm among members of the public.

The propagandists have all gone dead silent on the WikiLeaks founder they previously were smearing with relentless viciousness, because they no longer have an argument.

The facts are all in, and yes, it turns out the US government is certainly and undeniably working to exploit legal loopholes to imprison a journalist for exposing its war crimes. That is happening, and there is no justifying it.

So the narrative managers, by and large, have gone silent.
