Among all spiritual paths described by teachers, now and in the past, the one represented by artists is unique.

Quintessentially unique.

Why? Because—and this is vital to understand—the path of the artist has no explicit cosmology, no preordained content, no catalog of wisdom.

Who the heck understands the tax bill? Maybe the lobbyists who wrote the legislation but certainly not the members of Congress who will vote on it. The dirty little secret of that body is they are usually too busy raising money or appearing on TV to actually read. Especially when the thing they’re supposed to vote on changes more often than the White House staff roster and is more than 500 pages long.

Reverse the labels, turn them upside down, inside out, and you arrive at the same dead-end alley at midnight: none of the big-time pols are pure. Far from it.

Thanks to government education and books written by historical revisionists, most Americans believe the so-called Civil War was fought to free the slaves. The Civil War, more accurately called the War for Southern Independence, was primarily about the Constitution and secession. It was about tariffs. Abraham Lincoln was a staunch supporter of high protective tariffs.
