The first witness called in the Ghislaine Maxwell trial yesterday was the pilot of the infamous “Lolita Express”, which flew Epstein and whoever he was palling around with at the time to the disgraced financier’s private island.

The list of those who flew with Epstein reportedly includes Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and Prince Andrew.

The pilot, Lawrence Paul Visoski Jr., was hired by Epstein in 1991. He was asked Monday about Epstein’s relationship with Maxwell, which he called “couple-ish”, but not romantic.

After spending yesterday doing interviews with practically every major American news organization, Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel on Tuesday tanked shares in his own company after telling Britain’s premier financial newspaper that he expects vaccines will “struggle” to stop the omicron variant.

The criminal trial of former actor Jussie Smollett on charges that he staged a hate crime against himself is set to begin in Monday, after three years of delays into how the Chicago District Attorney handled the case.

The US now says “all options” are on the table in response to an alleged Russian troop build-up near its border with Ukraine. Top officials are set to meet with NATO next week to decide what further steps to take, according to Reuters.

China has long wanted to take over Taiwan, aka the Republic of China, to incorporate it into the mainland. Russia would like to take over parts of eastern Ukraine to gain land access to Crimea and weaken the West’s influence in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the US is struggling to get the COVID-19 pandemic under control and keep the economy on track for recovery.

Pfizer claims that a “soon-to-be-former employee” uploaded more than 12,000 files – including “scores” with confidential information – to her personal Google Drive account and other personal devices, a lawsuit from the company claims.

The company has accused Chun Xiao Li (“Li”) and five potential co-defendants of corporate espionage, saying Li “decided to leave Pfizer for a competitor believed to be Xenocor, Inc.”

What’s more, Li apparently gave Pfizer a ‘decoy’ laptop to throw internal investigators off the trail.

COVID-19 has killed more people in 2021 than 2020.

The virus was reported as the underlying cause of death (or a contributing cause of death) for an estimated 377,883 people in 2020, accounting for 11.3% of deaths, according to the CDC. As of Monday, more than 770,000 people have died from the coronavirus, according to Johns Hopkins University data. That means over 15,000 more people have died in 2021 than last year from COVID-19 – and there’s still more than a month left.
