The only interesting thing about either of the conventions held by America’s two mainstream political parties this month was not anything that was said by the interminable parade of vapid speakers, but rather what those speakers did not say.

Despite their dominating mainstream news cycles for years on end, at no time during the four-day Democratic National Convention was the word “impeachment” ever uttered, nor was any mention made of the Mueller investigation into allegations of collusion between Trump and the Russian government.

Until the final night of the Republican National Convention, it could be said that Trump just might have pulled a rabbit out of his hat. For those who did not know better, this could have seemed like a new man ushering in a new day.

As if 2020 wasn’t already full of surprises, it now appears that scientists have identified an asteroid that is on course for Earth – and though the chances are incredibly slim, it could strike the planet one day before Election Day in the United States.

Luckily, the flying space object known as 2018VP1 only has a diameter of about 6.5 feet.
