Remember all those Twitter armchair analysts who whined about Jeffrey Gundlach’s recent speculation about the effectiveness of the looming US (and international) vaccine rollout for not being rooted in “the science”?

The billionaire told CNN on Sunday that “unless we help other countries get rid of this disease” and see “high vaccination rates” within the US, the “risk of reintroduction” will be possible.

Conceding that by the summer of 2021, the US should be “way closer to normal than we are now,” Bill Gates, who has donated millions to vaccination efforts through his foundation, believes a full return to normal will not be possible until after 2022.

Defying expectations, the presidential race in Florida wasn’t even close. Joe Biden lost by more than 371,000 votes, picking up only 48 percent of the vote. But there was a clear progressive favorite among the electorate: Amendment 2, a ballot initiative raising Florida’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2026.

Ghislaine Maxwell is having such a rough time in prison that she is offering up a bail package of nearly $30 million, and is revealing details about her private life that she has never confirmed with investigators.

If her proposal is accepted, she hopes to be out of prison for the Christmas holiday.

An estimated $25 million of the sum will reportedly be raised by Maxwell’s husband, tech CEO Scott Borgerson, according to the Telegraph.

A new study by researchers at the University of Cambridge finds that the government-imposed lockdowns in response to the coronavirus pandemic cause significant harm to children’s mental health. The study, published this week in the Archives of Disease in Childhood, was the first of its kind to analyze data on younger children’s mental health before and during the first lockdown in the United Kingdom last spring.

The Supreme Court on Friday tossed a last-minute bid by the state of Texas to overturn the 2020 election by challenging the results of four battleground states.

Citing a lack of standing, Justice Samuel Alito wrote in a brief order that the state “has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections,” adding “All other pending motions are dismissed as moot.”

Ammar Kazmi argues it should be challenged in court.

There was immediate pushback to today’s decision by Time magazine to give its historic “Person of the Year” award to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

The Australian government has canceled further development of a COVID-19 vaccine after several trial participants had false positive tests for HIV. The vaccine was being developed by the University of Queensland, while Australian biotech company CSL Limited had been under contract to provide 51 million doses. The vaccine had been on schedule for mid-2021, with phase two and three clinical trials due to commence in December.

If our recent election and the past four years have shown us anything, it is that there is a strong level of popular discontent with the way things are, particularly with respect to our system of politics and economics in 21st century America.

Almost 30 years later, it seems there are many economies: the economy of Wall Street, the economy of the one-percent, of the middle class, of those struggling to make ends meet, and of those totally left behind.
