This week on The Geopolitical Report, we cover United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley’s demand nations responsible for the use of chemical weapons be held to account following an alleged chemical attack outside of Damascus, Syria. Secretary of State James Mattis reminded the al-Assad government of President Trump’s illegal attack last April on a Syrian airbase in response to an unverified chemical attack. Pressed on the issue, Mattis admitted he hasn’t seen direct evidence. He cited reports by unnamed NGOs, a reference to the White Helmets.

Le CAC-40, qui caracolait au-delà de 5400 points est revenus sous les 5100 points ce vendredi 9 février, soit une baisse de 9%, un mouvement identique à celui de l’indice DOW JONES à la bourse de New -York. Même si ces effets tendent à s’amenuiser, et la chute des marchés financiers devrait se ralentir fortement, voire s’arrêter, la semaine prochaine, on aurait tort de négliger cet avertissement.

Government isn’t perfect — far from it. It is too big and unwieldy, not transparent enough, does lots of really messed up things, often overreaches, and wastes money. More importantly, however, government is absolutely necessary. Without it, things would be much, much worse.
