Update (1232 ET): Buzz Feed’s Paul McLeod reports, “about 3,000 total national guard troops sheltering in the Capitol right now.”

McLeod said guardsmen had to stay in the Capitol building “overnight because there was nowhere to put all 15,000 troops being brought into DC for inauguration from various state national guards (eg New York sent 1,000).”

Impeachment is a “continuation of the greatest witch hunt in the history of politics”. 

“I think it’s causing tremendous anger.”

The Senate election in Georgia seems like it was years ago. Yet the trends that it foretells may be even more significant than the storming of the Capitol last week.

Recently, we’ve seen the movement of major companies — like Tesla, HP, Oracle, Dropbox, and Goldman Sachs — to blue cities in red states. These cities offer the amenities of blue culture coupled with a statewide environment of low taxes and less regulation.

Update (1301 ET): Politico’s Lara Seligmandit reports Gen. Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, said the US Department of Defense had approved a plan to increase Guard troops in the Washington Metropolitan Area by 9,000, for a total of 15,000 to support the inauguration.

I wouldn’t have thought that any mass media reporters would have the temerity to continue the public smear campaign against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange after it became clear to everyone that he was the subject of a brutal Trump administration prosecution aimed at criminalizing inconvenient journalism. But if there was going to be anyone to take up that flag, it would be the odious James Ball.
